Vickers Wave Specs, Price, Interior, Cockpit, & Photos. Vickers Wave is a amphibious light sport aircraft (LSA) developed and developed by Vickers Aircraft Company of Hamilton, New Zealand. The aircraft is developed to meet ASTM’s international LSA standards, the aircraft only underwent flight testing 180 hours before being certified due to the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). The aircraft headed introduced at the Sport Aviation Expo in Sebring, Florida in 2014. Since its introduction, Vickers Wave aircraft have received expressions of interest from several airline companies in the US, Europe and Malaysia.
Vickers Wave Engine and Performance
The Vickers Wave seaplane is powered due to the Intercooled Turbo ROTAX 915is engine which produces an output power of 141 hp. The engine moves the 72-in Catto three-bladed propeller. The aircraft uses Auto-Gas or Av-Gas fuel and has a full fuel capacity of 190 l.
Vickers Wave aircraft can fly with a maximum cruise speed of 222 km/ h and a maximum range of 2037 km (1100 nm). The aircraft requires a distance of 182 m to take off and land. The aircraft has a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 839 kg and can carry a useful load of 295 kg.

The Vickers Wave fuselage is made up of an aluminum primary structure with carbon fiber hull that is resistant to corrosion. The entire fuselage, floating elements and fuselage skin of the aircraft are also made of carbon fiber supplied by Core Builders Composites. The aircraft could be operated from water and runways on land. The wings of the aircraft may be folded automatically and could be equipped with transportation trailers, and an electric davit hook recovery system for transportation on a cruise ship.
The Vickers Wave aircraft are equipped with Cross-Over fixed landing gear and an emergency aircraft recovery parachute system. It also includes an emergency locator transmitter (ELT), a vertical electric power management system, and an electrically powered water booster for engine-off, on-water maneuvers. The Vickers Wave cockpit is equipped with the Dynon SkyView SV-D1000 avionics device which integrates a high-resolution touch screen display. The screen has a high level of brightness and could be seen clearly even in direct sunlight. The SkyView avionics suite includes the COM-C25 CON radio, the SkyView 2S stereo intercom, the SV-XPNDR-261 transponder, and the S mode transponder.
The device panel also integrates standard equipment including flight control sticks, center consoles, iPad mini with electronic flight books, checklists, and backup electronic flight device systems (EFIS). Other avionics include SkyView automatic pilots and angle of attack (AOA) indicators.

The Vickers Wave cabin has a length of 1.4 m, width 1.34 m, and height 1.20. The cabin can accommodate two personnel comprising of a pilot and a passenger. It has luggage space with a storage volume of 25 ft ³ (0.71 m ³). The cabin interior incorporates a heater and climate control fan, and has a double sliding door for safe and uncovered entry or exit, a high-visibility front windshield, drinking area, and seats with armrests and inertia windings, 4-point safety strap with airbags.
