Fokker 70 Specs, Price, Interior, Cockpit, & Photos. Fokker 70 is a twin passenger aircraft developed and built by the Fokker Aircraft Company (FAC), the Netherlands. This aircraft completed its maiden flight in July 1994 and entered solution with Ford Motor Company in October 1994. A sophisticated version, Fokker 70A was developed to be placed in the US. Fokker 70ER is a long-range model introduced in 1994. Fokker is equipped with an additional fuel tank to carry out long-range missions.

It was built by reducing the length of 100 Fokker aircraft parts by 4.62 m and removing two emergency exits. FAC bankruptcy resulted in the cessation of Fokker 70 production in 1996. The last Fokker 70 shipment occurred in April 1997. A total of 48 Fokker 70s were operated with 15 operators worldwide in November 2009.

Fokker 70 Engine

Fokker 70 is powered by two Rolls-Royce Tay 620-15 turbofan engines, each of which produces 61.6 kN thrust. The engine is mounted on the back of the aircraft. Tay 620-15 is a two-shaft high bypass ratio engine equipped with high pressure compressors, low pressure turbines, high pressure turbines and annular combustion systems. The length and diameter of the engine fan ends are 28.6 m and 13.4 m, respectively. The dry weight is 1,422 kg.

Fokker 70 can fly with a maximum speed of 856 km/ hr. The cruising speed is 800 km/ hour. Kiosk speed is 222 km/ hr. The range and solution ceiling of the aircraft are 2,010 km and 10,668 m respectively.

Fokker 70 has a 95% design similar to the Fokker F100. Fokker 70 is created to meet the strict noise regulation of the Federal Aviation Administration Stage 3. The exterior design of the aircraft consists of three patterns or two patterns with a middle tank. The aircraft is equipped with a cabin pressure system and air conditioning system.

Other features include electrical systems, hydraulic systems, anti-icing systems, taxis and landing lights, cargo doors, emergency doors, steering, ailerons, auxiliary power units and landing gear. Speed brakes, parking brakes, rating push panels, printers, cover selector, elevator trim, fire panels, and fuel panels are also installed on the aircraft.

Fokker 70 Cabin and Interior

Fokker 70 has a sizable cabin measuring around 2.9 m and 2 m, and can accommodate 80 passengers in five seating configurations. The cabin area is divided into business class and y class with enough legroom for passengers on the plane.

Open lower main entrance with 1.92 m width and 0.86 m width and integral stairs facilitate maximum operational flexibility. The cabin is equipped with an LED, an onboard oxygen generating system (OBOGS), and a ventilator.

Fokker 70 features a glass cockpit to fit pilots and copilots. Flight decks are equipped with a main flight display (PFD), multifunction display (MFD), navigation display, automatic flight control system (AFCS) and a dual flight management system (FMS).

It also suits cockpit voice recorders (CVR), receiver instrument landing systems (ILS), electronic flight instrumentation systems (EFIS), throttles, inertial recommendation systems (IRS), magnetic radio indicators (RMI) and communication systems addressing and reporting systems (ACARS) The required navigation performance (RNP 0.3) is also integrated to optimize aircraft to fly on shorter routes.

The price of the newest Fokker 70 is US $ 20 Million. Fokker 70 orders received from various customers include: Austrian arrows (nine), KLM Cityhopper (six), Carpatair (three), Vietnam Airlines (two), Dutch Government (one), Casa Air Solution (one), Ford Motor Company (two), Republic of Kenya (one), Republic of the Philippines (one), Sempati Air, Silkair (two) and so on. America West Express acquired two Fokker 70 in 1995.
