Fokker 50 Specs

FAC began making the Fokker 50 in November 1983. The aircraft was developed to operate on rough runways or ground runways and in adverse weather conditions. It was built with carbon composite materials consisting of glass fiber, carbon and aramid to reduce the overall weight.

The aircraft is geared up with three doors and a fire escape to go up or down passengers. It is also furnished with an optional door in the left corner of the rear body to load or unload items.

Fokker 50 was developed by modifying the F27-Fokker 500 aircraft. Modifications consisted of modern avionics, engine management systems, ailerons, Foklet wing tips and two-wheel nose wheels. Replacing the Rolls-Royce engine with the most fuel-efficient PW125B engine is a major modification that allows the aircraft to achieve cruising speeds of 12% higher and reduce fuel consumption.
