Yakovlev Yak-130 (NATO reporting name: Mitten) is an advanced two-seat jet instructor and subsonic light fighter aircraft designed and produced by Yakovlev and the Irkut company. The Yak-130 can be used as a light attack aircraft or as an instructor for various fourth or fifth generation fighter jets.
The joint program for the development of coaches between Russian Yakovlev and Italian Aermacchi began in 1993. The Yak/ AEM-130D demonstrators flew in 1996. In 1999, the partnership was dissolved and the Yakovlev Yak-130 and Aermacchi M346 became separate programs.
