ATR 72-500: Price, Cockpit, Specs, & Details. ATR 72-500 is a provincial twin-engine turboprop aircraft produced by Aerospatiale between 1997 and 2011. ATR, a joint venture formed by French aerospace company Aérospatiale and Italian aviation conglomerate Aeritalia (Alenia), with its headquarters in Toulouse.
The debut flight of the ATR 72-500 was completed in October 1988 and the aircraft began operating in October 1989. The ATR 72-500 is certified to operate an unpaved runway by installing kits to ensure landing gear and lower fuselage protection. Special cold weather procedures allow operation at temperatures as low as -54 ° C.
ATR 72-500 Engine

ATR 72-500 Cabin and Interior
ATR 72-500 aircraft can carry up to 74 passengers in a configuration of four aisles behind. Standard configuration includes two cargo compartments. The ATR 72-500 aircraft cabin is equipped with a quick change kit to provide fast change capability for passenger and container transportation operations and separately ATR cargo conversion to convert aircraft into cargo.
The quick replacement kit provides the ability to reconfigure the cabin in 45 minutes to carry ATR special containers using standard front cargo doors.
This kit allows ATR 72-500 aircraft to be operated as passenger aircraft during the day and as a cargo plane at night. Each optimized container has a volume of 2.8 m ³ and can transport goods up to a total weight of 500 kg. ATR 72 can carry up to 13 ATR containers.
ATR 72-500 Price and Orders

In 2008, TAT Group got 40 ATR 72-500. Vietnam Airlines bought six ATR-500s in 2008. Orders in 2007 included TRIP Linhas Aereas (seven) in January, Swiftair (three) in April, Malaysia Airlines (20) in June 2007, Batavia (ten) in August, Vietnam Airlines (11 ), Berjaya Air (four) and Malaysia Airlines (20) in December.
